Claire Arrowsmith B.Sc.(Hons), M.Sc.

Claire Arrowsmith began her career with an Honours Degree in Zoology from the University of Aberdeen after growing up in the Highlands of Scotland. A lifestyle brimming with family pets of all shapes and sizes, working sheepdogs and farming livestock provided her with a love and understanding of animals. After travelling abroad and assisting on academic research projects involving Koala Bears and Sleepy Lizards in Australia, she returned to the UK and studied for her Masters of Science Degree in Applied Animal Behaviour and Animal Welfare at the University of Edinburgh.

Claire has conducted research into methods of predicting future owner-directed aggression in rescue dogs, the findings of which she has presented in Boston U.S.A. and at the Companion Animal Behaviour Study Therapy Group 2000 seminar in Birmingham.

Claire has worked for an animal rescue charity whilst also providing behavioural consultations for dogs around the Edinburgh and Glasgow areas. She then joined the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People as their Post Placement Training Instructor, where she travelled throughout the U.K. providing behavioural advice and training for recipients and their Hearing Dogs. During this time, Claire achieved her Deaf Awareness BSL Stage 1 (CACDP).
